TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. It is a device that produces a low voltage electrical current that is used for pain management.
Electrical signals travel from the TENS unit through wires to electrodes that are attached to the skin. The electricity stimulates the nerves and sends signals to the brain that trigger the “pain gate” to close.
